Original documentations   -  

Bring all W2’s, pension/IRA/annuity income, interest & dividends (1099’s), 1098’s (mortgage statements), if you paid your real estate taxes personally, make sure you have the amounts paid. 

Real Estate Sales / Purchases  -  If you bought and/or sold your home, please bring the closing statement or HUD1.  The same applies to second residences or any other real estate.

Stock Sales  -  If you sold any stock, please make sure you know when and what you paid for it.  Normally your broker or financial institution would have that information.

Child Care Expenses  -  If you have any Day Care Expenses even though your employer had a Dependant Care Plan, you will need the providers name, address and Tax ID #. (Social security or Federal ID numbers).   If there are any new children, please bring social security number.

  
Donations  - If you made charitable contributions this year, make sure you have a list of them or a total amount donated.   If you donated non-cash items, (Salvation Army), bring the receipt or have the value of the items, the date donated and to whom it was donated to.  If you have driver your car on behalf of an organization, bring the total miles driven.   
 
Educational Costs  -  Bring the paid bills from the college and/or student loan used for tuition.  Financial aid or scholarships are not eligible for any credits.

Employment Related Expenses  -  If you have un-reimbursed employee business expenses or job seeking expenses, make sure you have the total amounts paid.  Some common overlooked expenses, cell phone, internet costs, dues & publications and automobile mileage.  If you are an educator, you can deduct up to $250 of classroom expenses.

    *  Vehicles Information – For mileage deductions, we will need the total miles driven and total business miles driven.  Amounts paid for parking, tolls, auto leases, gas, car washes, repairs and insurance.
  
IRA Deduction  -  If you are or considering a contribution to an IRA, please let us know.
  
New York State   -  
 - Sales Taxes - Last year NYS wanted individuals to pay sales tax on items purchased from an out of state vendor.  (i.e. LL Beam)  If you have purchased item and not paid the sales tax, please let us know, so we can include the amount on your NYS return.  
NY Saves- If you contributed to NYS’s 529-education program, please let us know the amounts.

If you are not sure, bring it.   We have the information from the prior years, so if you have the same day care provider, we would have the name, address and Tax ID#.  If you have any questions, please give us a call.
